Leongatha Memorial Hall
Proposal – At the request of the local council, Theatre Star were employed to conduct a site inspection and create a report outlining steps to upgrade the Leongatha Memorial Hall stage drapes and tracking to ensure safe and functional usage for the next generation.
Challenges – Working within a limited budget, we were tasked with upgrading the defunct existing curtains and tracking.
On inspection, we found that the main front tracking was extremely old and inoperable, the rear track was domestic style and not operable and the mid track required servicing. The old existing drapes were manufactured from non-compliant, innappropriate fabrics which represented an immediate fire risk.
Solutions – Theatre Star provided a full report with suggested upgrades and associated costs. On acceptance, we proceeded to upgrade the curtains to durable IFR fabrics, including our Ultra IFR Velvet in black for the front curtains, and our Infinity IFR black wool for the stage masking. New, heavy theatre tracking was installed for the main front curtains and the rear curtains.
Outcome – The improvement was obvious and dramatic, with multi layers of black curtains now providing a vastly more flexible and usable stage. The new theatre tracking provides effortless and quiet movement of the curtains.
This historical and much loved local venue is now far more functional and is fully compliant National Construction Code requirements.
Theatre Star installed Inherently Flame Retardant fabrics which will NEVER require any expensive treatments and rarely require any major cleaning.

Peter Cook, Building Coordinator said; “I was really impressed with the service and quality provided by Theatre Star following replacement of theatre curtains at two of our premier halls (in Leongatha and Mirboo North). I was pleasantly surprised at Theatre Star’s commitment to the projects, working extremely efficiently with a no-fuss attitude and taking it upon themselves to ensure that operation of the buildings were completely unaffected by their works.”
